Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows. Our first show was A Chorus Line, which we saw on Sunday. Although it's been around for several decades, neither of us had seen it. The performance was really good & we both enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the shows!
On Saturday we continued our tradition of going to Lattin's Pumpkin Patch for yummy apple fritters, apple cider donuts, and pumpkins. We lucked out and had gorgeous weather after a very rainy day on Friday. It was opening weekend but thankfully wasn't packed. We got to see all the animals, then Nova went on the bounce houses and took a little train ride before we hit the pumpkin patch. We had a great selection of pumpkins & filled our wheelbarrow full! Afterwards we had hoped to go to Brewery City, but they were out of power, so we ended up having lunch at Happy Teriyaki. We also had hoped to go to Tumwater Falls Park to see the salmon run, but there was a festival going on, and it was too crowded. Although our day didn't go as planned, we still had a great time!

Gabby & Ethan took a road trip (Sept 12-19th) down to Arcata to visit Humboldt where they first met! It sounds like they packed in a lot of fun things including some tide pooling, hiking & visiting with old friends. They had beautiful weather! Here is her write up & some great pictures of their adventures.
Ethan and I road tripped down to Humboldt and up the Oregon coast. Here are the highlights:
Day 1:
- Drive from Seattle to Humboldt
- Saw a black bear along Smith River
- Dinner at Arcata Pizza & Deli (I believe the first restaurant I ever ate at in Humboldt!)
Day 2:
- Birding at Arcata Marsh
- Breakfast at Los Bagels
- Mini golf with our friend Brinn and his partner Lillyauna
- Lunch at Renata's Creperie (they have the best hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream!)
- Shopping in Eureka's old town
- Saw ACME Vs. Coyote at the Minor Theatre
Day 3:
- Tide pooling and breakfast in Trinidad (my favorite meal of the trip- I got a delicious sandwich)
- Couples' massage at Spa by the Sea for Ethan's birthday
- Dinner at Esteban's (where Ethan and I had our first date!)
- Hot tubbing at Cafe Mokka
Day 4:
- Ethan's 27th birthday!
- Breakfast at Cafe Brio
- Walking around campus. We toured the greenhouse, which I didn't do as a student, and got new Cal Poly Humboldt merch.
- Hip Hop class taught by Brinn
- Sunset at Moonstone Beach
- Game night with Brinn and Lillyauna. We found a cute D&D style game where you play as mouse knights!
Day 5:
- Drive from Humboldt to Gold Beach, OR
- Hiked at Lady Bird Johnson Grove
- Fern Canyon (Ethan never got to go when he lived in Humboldt)
Day 6:
- Drive from Gold Beach to Yachats
- Tide pooling and birding at Coquille Point
- John Dellenback Dunes Trail
- Thor's Well and Spouting Horn
Day 7:
- Drive from Yachats to Long Beach, WA
- Tide pooling and lighthouse at Yaquina Head
- Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach
Day 8:
- Drive from Long Beach to Seattle
- Detour back to Astoria for a bird tour at Wildlife Center of North Coast (the parents' gift for Ethan's birthday)
